All Ireland Final Day – Let’s Practice Wet Weather Riding

It’s All Ireland Football Final 2023 and a fine group (minus our Kerry members who drove up to Croke Park, only to come home empty handed) had a training run around Lough Derg. Today’s subject was “Acceleration, Braking, and using Gears”. As a bonus, we got horrible weather. Rain reduces visibility (for both riders and other motorists) and tyre grip alike.  Therefore, smooth acceleration, good observation, early braking, and sympathetic use of gears were especially relevant. Even in Summer, rain and wind can reduce core body temperature, affecting a rider’s ability to react and control the machine effectively.

Looks like we’re going to have to limit the number of blue bikes in the club

Time for badly needed hot tea and coffee in Portumna.
